The management team of the Spain-India Council Foundation, represented by its Director, Berta Fuertes, and Deputy Director, Vega Yubero, attended the lecture «Cities and Architecture: Delhi» on 11 June. The event was organized by the Ibercaja Foundation and the Madrid Association of Architects (COAM). The lecture forms part of a series dedicated to exploring key milestones in the history of major cities, using their architecture and urban development as the main narrative thread.
The conference on Delhi offered a cultural and urban interpretation of the metropolis through the perspectives of five women from different historical periods, exploring the city as a stratified territory, shaped by landscape, representation, memory, and daily life.
The conference was presented by Mara Sánchez Llorens, an architect and urban planner from the ETSAM (Technical University of Madrid) and a PhD in Architectural Projects. Her work includes "Magnetic Spaces," a study of Indian ghats that explores the relationship between drawing, territory, and urban memory. She has also published, along with Fermina Garrido, Ray Earnes, and Lina Bo, "Bardi: The Journey as Laboratory," in which she analyzes The Indian Report, connecting the urban complexity of Delhi with critical perspectives on modernity, tradition, and cultural hybridity.
