Under this premise and based on the potential for exchange between the Spanish and Indian fashion industries, this meeting served to promote increased awareness and better positioning of Indian fashion in Spain and vice-versa, as well as paving the way for new projects and shared initiatives.
The 1st Meeting convened with institutions, industries, designers and top associations representing both countries. This project, which was developed in Valladolid and Madrid, was supported by the Indian Embassy in Spain and coordinated by Casa de la India, as well as being supported by the Spanish Association of Fashion Designers and the Spain-India Council Foundation, which feels that this meeting is a much-needed platform offering great potential to the fashion design and the textile industries.
Designers as renowned as Modesto Lomba, Elio Berhanyer, Lemoniez, María Lafuente, Alberto Tous, Esther Noriega and Villais Kavita Barthia attended, as well as textile industry representatives such as Textiles Montecid and Arras and designer representatives from the ESNE Universidad Camilo José Cela training group, accompanied by Indian designer Ritu Kumar, his country's greatest fashion representative.
