Spain-India Council Foundation takes part in SembrAI 2026

The designated Secretary General of the Spain-India Council Foundation took part in the International Congress on Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Agri-food Chain, held as part of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026

The designated Secretary General of the Spain-India Council Foundation participated in SembrAI 2026, the International Congress on Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Agri-Food Chain, which held its fourth edition on 21 and 22 September at the Rectorate of the University of Córdoba.

India was the Guest Country of Honour at the event, as part of the programme for the Spain-India Dual Year 2026. Under the theme “Intelligence that feeds tomorrow”, SembrAI brought together professionals, researchers, institutions, companies and startups to explore the potential of artificial intelligence in transforming the agri-food chain.

India’s participation played a prominent role through the India AI Agrifood 10 programme, designed to foster collaboration between the agri-food and technology ecosystems of India, Spain and Europe. The initiative included the participation of Indian experts, an India Pavilion at ExpoSembrAI and ten startups selected by Startup India/DPIIT.

During his participation, the incoming Secretary General represented the Spain-India Council Foundation at an event that brought together two areas of particular interest to the bilateral relationship: technological innovation and the agri-food sector. SembrAI addressed topics such as precision agriculture, agricultural robotics, drones, food security, sustainability and the application of artificial intelligence across the different stages of the value chain.

The congress took on particular significance in the context of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, which featured Artificial Intelligence, alongside Culture and Tourism, as one of its three main pillars and coincided with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

India’s participation in SembrAI thus helped create new connections between institutions, companies, researchers and startups from both countries and explore opportunities for cooperation in the application of artificial intelligence to a strategic sector such as agri-food.
