The main items on the agenda were a summary of the activities carried out by the Foundation, the Plan of Action for 2016 and the inclusion of Danosa as a patron
A new Board meeting of the Spain India Council Foundation was held at the Ministry of External Affairs and Cooperationheadquarters on November 18. During the meeting, the activities carried out by SICF in the second half of the year were evaluated and the Plan of Action for 2016 was introduced.
The Board members welcomed Danosa to SICF's project. The multinational is a market leader in waterproof asphaltic layers, thermal and acoustic insulation, draining and geo-textiles for households and civil works.Through a joint venture with Indian company Tiki Tar, it has also become a market leader in India.
Regarding the activities carried out by the Foundation in the second half of the year, the Board members were satisfied both with the number of scheduled events and their quality and with the high profile of the attending delegations. Antonio Escámez, SICF's Chairman, emphasised the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs' continued support and also expressed his gratitude for the involvement of the Ambassador of India Vikram Misri and the Ambassador of Spain, Gustavo de Arístegui. Escámez also thanked the patrons for their involvement and participation in SICF's activities, through their organisational efforts as well as their attendance.
SICF's Secretary General, Alonso Dezcallar, gave a brief overview of all events, including the Spain-India Dialogues on Global, Geo-Economic and Defence Challenges and Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Social Impact of Women; the breakfast meeting with the Minister for Finance, Commerce and Industries of West Bengal; the meetings with Spanish and Indian think tanks focused on Urban Development and Infrastructure and the breakfast meeting with Vikram Misri.
Regarding the Action Plan for 2016,a new edition of the Indian Leaders Programme was scheduled, following the success of all the editions held to date. A 2nd Spain India Forum was scheduled in the framework of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries, which will be co-organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).The 3rd SICF Award will also take place in 2016, and will be presented jointly to film-makers Zoya Akhtar and Carlos Saura, as agreed at the previous Board meeting. As usual, SICF will continue to organise activities aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in different sectors, including Bilateral Dialogues, Meetings and other similar formats.
