The Spain-India Council Foundation has signed a collaboration agreement for the sponsorship of the "Tour of India 2011", an initiative of the Gloria Mandelik Dance Company which consists of a series of performances in the cities of Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi over a period of 10-12 days, as part of a cultural exchange between India and Spain.

The Gloria Mandelik Dance Company will present a program integrating the three styles of dance to which Gloria has devoted her life (classical, Spanish and Indian) in a very original way. Two Indian dancers of Bharata Natyam (classical dance of India) will join the ballet and Spanish-style dancers traveling from Spain. The Spanish and Indian dancers are given a unique opportunity to collaborate with artists representing different dance idioms, under the direction of a professional with a great knowledge of these styles. Auditions in India will be open to local artists.

The Gloria Mandelik Dance Company and its project "Tour of India 2011" is a continuation of the work to promote mutual understanding between Spain and India, which Mandelik has pioneered. Her desire is to thus offer "her experience and knowledge of dance to bring her two adopted countries together, as a continuation of the 2000 years of relations between India and Spain", in reference to the book India-Spain, Dream and Reality. 2000 Years of Relations, published by the Embassy of India in Madrid in 2002, which includes a whole illustrated chapter about Gloria Mandelik.
